Have you ever wondered why the federal government is prohibited, by law, from negotiating drug prices for Medicare beneficiaries? Here are nearly 269 million "reasons". The 990 form submitted by all "not for profit" entities shows that the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association spent nearly $269 million lobbying our representatives in 2016...a nearly $50 million increase from the previous year. “We’re here to serve the people of this community”. Those are the words of ThedaCare’s CEO Imran Andrabi in an interview in the Post Crescent on August 20, 2017. By definition, a “servant” responds to requests from others. Over the last several months, as concerned members of our community, we have made several requests to Dr. Andrabi’s organization as well as to Ascension. First, we requested bylaws from both organizations. Bylaws are legal documents that describe how organizations function including how members of the board of trustees are selected.
